Meet Dr. Shih at Ocean Avenue Dentistry.

Sandy T. Shih, DDS

My love of science and my desire to help people feel better led me to pursue a career in dentistry. These passions still drive the work I enjoy every day.  I received a specialty Hon. B.Sc. in Toxicology, a major B.Sc. in Human Biology, and a minor in Philosophy from the University of Toronto.  I moved to San Francisco to pursue my Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of California – San Francisco School of Dentistry. I have been happily practicing as a dentist since 2006.

I enjoy building a foundation of trust by treating every patient as a unique individual. I do everything I can to deliver gentle treatment and make people feel comfortable. I am proud to say that I have converted quite a few dental-phobic individuals, of all ages, into enthusiastic patients who now love visiting our dental office!  I have a passion for creating beautiful smiles with minimally invasive cosmetic dentistry using the latest techniques, materials and technology available in dentistry.

As a mom to two young children, I know how parents can struggle to get their kids to brush their teeth. I am committed to making the dental visit a fun experience. I volunteer to visit preschools and elementary schools to educate youngsters about the importance of taking care of their precious smiles. I use puppets, dress up and song to teach children about “sugar bugs and cavities."

I am involved with the local San Francisco Dental Society, having served as a committee member in Peer Review, New Dentist Committee, and Community Dental Health Committee, Chair of the New Dentist Committee, and a Director of the Board.

I am dedicated to giving back to our community by volunteering with community projects, including:

  • Project Homeless Connect

  • City Smiles Connect

  • San Francisco Unified School District Kindergarten dental screenings

  • Public health fairs

I enjoy getting to know every patient and endeavor to provide the highest quality, gentle care in a warm, and friendly environment.

My husband Paul and I are parents to a young son and daughter, which keeps us on our toes. I enjoy karaoke, yoga, travel, movies, and TV.  I grew up in Canada, so I love the multicultural aspects of San Francisco, the sense of community and I and don’t miss shoveling snow for half of the year!

Meet Dr. Bianchi at Ocean Avenue Dentistry.

Kenneth A. Bianchi, DDS

I've lived in San Francisco for my entire life, and I love giving back to the community that I grew up and work in.

I’m proud to have been treating many of my patients for their entire lifetime. I find joy in getting to know, educating, and delivering care for each of my patients as I would for my own family. No matter what the question or concern, I’m here to provide for each one of them. I want to make visiting the dentist a pleasant and enjoyable experience for our patients—never a chore. We take all the time necessary to ensure that we not only meet patients' needs, but they leave our office smiling.

I have more than three decades of experience in this field, and together with Dr. Shih’s training, our practice is able to provide the whole package of general dentistry care and cosmetic services. Our patients know and trust us, and we want them to know that we’re doing everything possible to treat them with the highest caliber of care, from nurturing a tight-knit staff to creating a relaxing office environment.

My wife, Noelle Clark, and I have been married for more than 40 years. She is the dental hygienist in the office, and we have continually pushed each other to provide better quality care every day. We work as a great team, both together and in conjunction with the rest of the talented staff at our office.

I love spending my free time with my wife, three children, and grandchildren. I try to keep fit by running Lake Merced or the Great Highway. I have completed nine marathons, including San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Washington, DC, Boston, and Rome. For 18 years, I have been a soccer referee at the club and high school level. I enjoy golfing at the Olympic Club and going to Giants and 49er games. I’m proud to have been inducted into the Riordan High School Hall of Fame for baseball.

Meet Dr. Muncheryan at Ocean Avenue Dentistry.

Arthur Muncheryan, DDS

Dr. Muncheryan has been in practice for over 39 years in San Francisco. He began his career with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of California at Irvine, and attained his Doctorate of Dental Sciences from the University of California, San Francisco in 1977. Dr. Muncheryan taught dentistry for over 20 years at UCSF with an emphasis in prosthodontics (bridges and denture construction, and full mouth restoration). He was one of the lead instructors at the San Francisco General Hospital Family Dental Clinic, and taught all disciplines of dentistry. He currently teaches dentistry at The University of the Pacific School of Dentistry.

Dr. Muncheryan has attended many post-graduate courses, with an emphasis on emergency care dentistry, endodontics, new dental materials and equipment, and implant dentistry. He now works closely with several surgeons who help place the implants.

One of the main goals of Dr. Muncheryan’s practice is to help his patients receive the best care possible. He does this by first listening to his patients’ needs and addressing each issue. Dr. Muncheryan’s practice is based on preventive dentistry, helping patients to preserve the health of their teeth and gum tissues. He currently attends a monthly study group that emphasizes the best treatment plans for saving teeth by maintaining healthy gum tissue.

Dr. Muncheryan is married to his best friend, Rose, and together they have a wonderful son, Evan. His family spends time together traveling on fun weekend trips, going to concerts and plays, and helping Evan with his career goals. Dr. Muncheryan’s other interests include sports car racing and karting, writing a monthly column for The Wheel, skiing, mountain biking, and choral music.
